Cardiff

So my trip to Cardiff didn't turn out quite as planned. It has been quite well documented that George Michael is still hospitalised in Austria and has cancelled or rather postponed the rest of the tour. With a non exchangeable train ticket and non refundable hotel I decided to stay in Cardiff and make the most of it. In the 5 years since I was there last a whole new shopping centre has sprung up and it is a great city for shopping if that's your thing, which for me sadly is not.
The city was in full festive swing with an above average display of lights and the castle in particular looked great all wrapped up like a parcel.

I was able to use the time to hook up with some old friends and thoroughly enjoyed that and jumped on a bus to visit my old home town of Penarth. It was weird to see how things had changed, some for the better and some for the worse and to walk the routes that I did as a child and teenager.
My old school looked really run down and tired and I created a perve alert by walking up the main drive to it to have a look by being forcibly ejected by security. We never had security when I went to school and I wasn't sure if they were to keep the perves out or to keep the kids in.

It was a nice little trip down memory lane but very disappointing that George is so ill and was unable to do the concert.
