I Ieft after 1 drink and walked up to the Roundhouse. This was my first time at this venue and it is a fantastic place. It looks like it was originally a massive corn store or something but it was the engine room for turning trains around about a million years ago or something. It is now a superb concert venue which is quite edgy but still clean and has working toilets .
Today had been a scorcher and I was a bit Sticky but not very Sweet so I did my 7 year itch impression over the air conditioning grids which cooled me down right to my inner sanctum whilst I waited for the fun to start.
The show started with Pump from the Funplex album and it was a good mix of this album with some classic vintage B 52 tracks. I totally love The Funplex so I was more than happy to hear almost every track from this album. I had assumed that Kate had been photo shopped to death for the album cover as she looked so good but seeing her in the flesh she looked amazing. To think she is 60 and a woman I thought she looked really hot, and not in a Cher like way just totally natural. She had a corset type top on and a mini skirt and she definitely had the best legs in the Roundhouse, together with a head of someone else's fantastic red hair. She is my favourite B 52 and I was transfixed with her until Cindy snarled at the audience, “Hey Bitch, have you seen my man!” which was a great introduction to my favourite track of theirs, Give Me Back My Man. Cindy gave it hell to this and it was stunning, Kate took a back seat with the maracas which was nice of her but I wish she had finished the song with her “Give her back man” bits.

I had to keep moving cos my poor old back couldn’t take the crush up front and I thought I was going to pass out with the heat at one point. I thought I had found a good spot but then had to move again as I was surrounded by yummy mummies who had thought it was appropriate to take toddlers to a B 52 concert?
Fred did his cartoon style vocals and was really cool doing his part to the girls harmonies. They were all Walking Like an Egyptian to Mesopotania. I can remember coming home with that on vinyl and being gutted it was more of an EP than a whole album, and Kate kept darting from one side of the stage to the other. It was exhausting to watch but I found a spot with enough air eventually so that I could let my hair down and dance like I had just arrived from Planet Claire.
What this show did prove was that the Funplex was not a comeback album but just a natural progression from their fantastic back catalogue.
I really loved this show and had a ball there and I am so glad I managed to score that ticket from Ebay. I would have been totally gutted if I had missed this. Awesome.

Ah cool... I totally missed them when they came to Toronto earlier this year. I'll have to make sure I don't miss them if they return
So glad you made it to see them and enjoyed the show, they are wonderful performers.
